Listed below are the services we currently offer both face to face and virtually.
These services may be subject to change. To access our virtual services you must have access to a mobile device or computer with a camera.
Acupuncture &
Acupressure
Can be beneficial in helping symptoms of anxiety, pain and insomnia. Studies have shown that Acupuncture and Acupressure significantly relieves the severity and frequency of menopausal hot flushes. We also run group acupuncture sessions for this. Acupuncture is a face to face service.
Exercise
Research has shown that physical activity reduces your risk of developing cancer and its recurrence. Maintaining or increasing your levels of activity can help with side effects of treatment. This is a face to face service.
Yoga Therapy
The main emphasis of Yoga Therapy is to take an individual approach with each person and to apply the tools in a unique combination. It focuses on re-establishing the balance necessary for health and well-being using breathing, meditation, visualisation and gentle movement. This is a 1:1 and group face to face service.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a way of safely connecting the subconscious to elicit changes in feelings, thoughts and behaviours. This is a face to face service.
Massage
Massage can help relieve everyday anxiety, reduce stress, help relax, help sleep and promotes a sense of well-being. This is a face to face service.
Reiki
Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive treatment and aims to bring about balance in mind, body and spirit to improve wellbeing. This is a face to face service.
Reflexology
Reflexology involves gentle massage on the feet (or hands). It can be used to alleviate and improve symptoms such as stress and tension. This is a face to face service.
Manual Lymphatic
Drainage (MLD)
MLD is a gentle technique used mainly on people with lymphoedema. It is specially designed to manipulate lymph drainage from areas that are congested. This is a face to face service.
Please Note: Patients cannot be seen for MLD unless they have been referred to a lymphoedema clinic by their medical team. An assessment will be required.
Emotional Freedom
Technique (EFT)
Also known as tapping, gives you the skills to manage stress and anxieties when faced with a cancer diagnosis and treatment. These sessions are 1:1 and are available virtually or face to face.
Meditation
Meditation can help relax, destress and quieten a busy mind. We hold a group session every Tuesday at 9.00am to 9.30am. No need to book please drop in.
Groups
We are currently running a number of face-to-face and online groups for patients.

Wig Service
Patients can obtain a wig via the NHS wig service or our wig bank. Our hairdresser will also provide advice and information on hair care during and after treatment. Strictly by appointment.

Do I need a health professional referral?
No referral from your medical team or other healthcare professional is needed. It’s quick and easy to register yourself to use our services: (link to website registration page). If you would like help to do this, we are happy to help. You can email rsc-tr.fountaincentre@nhs.net or call 01483 406618 and ask to speak to someone from the registration team.
Can I use your services before I start treatment?
You can use our services from the minute you are diagnosed with cancer. In fact, using the types of services we offer as soon as possible can be incredibly beneficial. Research shows that adopting positive lifestyle changes (e.g. exercise) and finding ways to relax and prioritise emotional wellbeing, can improve how people prepare for and manage their treatment.
How much do your services cost?
The Fountain Centre is an independent charity that relies on donations to continue its services. We kindly request a donation for each session attended, with a suggested amount of £10. However, you are welcome to donate more or less based on your circumstances. If you're unable to donate, please don’t hesitate to speak with a team member—your access to our services won’t be affected
Are your volunteers qualified?
Yes, all of our complementary therapists, coaches and counsellors are all qualified, insured and registered with a professional body.
What do I need to do to cancel an appointment?

Can I access support indefinitely?
Due to service limitations, we can only provide hands-on support to patients for up to two years from their diagnosis, and one year post diagnosis for loved ones. . However, we’re more than happy to direct you to external agencies that may be able to assist you at any time.
